Ian Leamon was the wine maker at one of the longest-established wineries in the Bendigo region – Chateau Leamon. Ian is the second generation of the family to be involved, taking responsibility for winemaking in the 1980s The property was sold in early 2012, but Ian Leamon will continue to make wine, buying shiraz and cabernet sauvignon from regional vineyards and Riesling grapes from the Strathbogie Ranges in Victoria.
Ian Leamon, studied winemaking at Charles Sturt University, Wagga Wagga while gaining work experience at Bests Wines, Brown Brothers, Arrowfield, Veuve Clicquot and Rosemount Wines.
Ian’s love of France, especially Champagne led him to his current role of importing fine Champagne from a select number of small growers and more recently to importing selected wines from Burgundy.
